ECS LIVING May-June 2016
How did you feel after bagging the best gown?
It felt great to be acknowledged for all the hard work and passion you’ve been putting on something you love. It just makes me happy to know that people are loving my work.
What led you to choose this particular colors/textures for the gown?
I am currently inspired by the regalities of different kinds of rich fabrics. The fabric I chose was a fish net, which was embellished with thread works, sequins, multi color beads and Nepali potes. I really wanted to play with a different color besides the regular ones. Aubergine is a color that is dark, powerful and full of desire. The silhouette was mermaid, which I think perfectly captivates the beauty of a woman’s body.
Tell us about your other collections?
Lately, for the last year and half I was very busy with my studio/workshop management and several other projects. While the projects are still ongoing I have tried to separate my time for some new collections. So hopefully you will see a lot of new ensembles from me.
Designers that has inspired you to this feat?
Being a designer myself I have my own style, method of working and ideas. So there wasn’t anyone in particular that inspired me. It was the elements and the occasion that inspired me more I guess.
Besides Miss Nepal, tell us your participation in other major events?
Well, this year I am working on a lot different entities and I can’t disclose them as they are all either in pipeline or not officially launched yet. But if you follow me in my instagram or Facebook, you will gradually hear the announcements J
What is that separates you from the rest?
I believe everyone is unique in their own ways. The fact that I am ‘me’, I have grown, evolved as a person, as an artist but I have never tried to be something I am not. I have always been creatively driven always motivated. So, my individualism and my vision is something that no one can take away from me. I think being yourself is what separates you from the rest.
Give your insightful words to Asmee Shrestha for her future endeavors.
I always have an amazing time designing for her. When I debuted my first collection back in 2012, she was the first model to walk on the ramp wearing Inspire. After that she won the face of Classic Diamond also wearing my design. So she and I share a very special bond. The most amazing thing about her is how grounded and genuine she is despite of being one of the most popular faces of Nepal. Now that she is our New Miss Nepal, I just want to wish her lots of love and luck at the miss World 2016.
